This MTV staple came to late night Channel 4 at the beginning of 1994. Beavis and Butt-Head were two cartoon slackers who made smart alec comments about videos, the successors to the previous decade's Max Headroom in a way. I never found them funny but sometimes tuned in when channel-hopping.
The age I was (13), this held a certain appeal - the characters more than the music, as I was still not at the point where music was doing much for me, 1994 being the start of the nightmare retro-stylings of Britpop.
ReplyDeleteI seriously doubt it holds up very well 20 odd years on, but creator Mike Judge has gone on to do plenty of fine work, and some years later I very much enjoyed the spin-off show "Daria".
Well don't expect that to come up here as it's the first I've heard of it I'm afraid !
